Tidus is my puppy. Well, he is not really a puppy anymore but he will always be a puppy to me. I will forever remember the first day I saw him, he was so little and so cute.
Jon (my husband) and I had gone to the breeder’s house and there were 10 different puppies running around. The two of us were so overwhelmed we weren’t sure how we could choose one out of the whole litter. And then as I was kneeling down this one little guy walks right up to me and put his paw on my knee. It was my boy; he looked up at me with those big puppy dog eyes and asked me to take him home. I really believe that he chose me that day.
He was only 5 ½ weeks old when we picked him up from the breeder and he cried all the way. That is why we called him Tidus. You see Tidus is a character from the video game FFX; he was famous for crying a lot.
Anyway my puppy, Tidus, is now a year old and weighs roughly 80 pounds. He has gotten so big and so strong. We took him to the park today and as usual he gets so excited. That is typical of a golden retriever they love to be outside and they especially love people. In fact, he likes people so much he tackles them with love. This does not go over when you try to go for a nice Sunday stroll through the park, although, it does make things interesting. You do have to be careful though because it can be dangerous. Like today for instance, I got in between him and the people walking towards us. He nearly tripped me up with his leash. However, I quickly put my Kungfu moves into practice and managed to escape with no more that a friction burn. He really is a sweetheart and would never hurt a fly. But, he gets really excited sometimes and doesn’t know his own strength.
I think we are going to take Tidus to a trainer we heard of in our area. Her name is Melissa but the locals call her “The Dog Whisperer.” She is supposed to be really good and only uses positive reinforcement. I think this will be really good for both Tidus and for me.
As I update my site I will have pictures of Tidus so you can see how stinking cute he is and why I love him so much. But for now I will say good night.
Thanks for stopping by,
Kira :)
